The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) quality measures provide the user insight into possible variations in the quality of inpatient care. The measures are created using a hospital's inpatient discharge dataset.

The AHRQ Quality Indicators are grouped into three distinct modules.

INPATIENT QUALITY
These measures look at the quality of care associated with inpatient procedures and conditions. Specifically volume (cases related to complex procedures), utilization (overuse, underuse and misuse of procedures) and mortality(related to both procedures and conditions).
